When selling on eBay most of the time you will just be selling to individual sellers. Most buyers are trustful, but there will always be some out there trying to scam you, and this is how to avoid getting scammed on eBay as a seller.
When selling on eBay you will always want to check the buyer's profile. A buyer could buy your shoes, receive it and wear it, but if they contact eBay and claim the shoe was damaged or lost, most of the time they will side with the buyer. Make sure the buyer has good feedback
The same thing with buying outside of eBay, you should also never sell outside of eBay. Buyers will try to contact you and offer a price higher than what you originally listed to try and get you to contact them. They make it seem legit by acting very nice, and most of these accounts might actually have feedback, but always check when the last feedback was posted. Some of these accounts might have feedback but it could be well over 12 months old or even longer. If you end up selling to the person outside of eBay, you will not be under eBay's buyer and sellers protection and will probably end up getting scammed for your item. NEVER DEAL OUTSIDE OF EBAY!
Be very descriptive when selling an item, because the buyer may try to show that you sent them the wrong item or the item received looked nothing like the picture you posted. If this does happen, eBay will usually side with the buyer, and you lose your item.
If you plan on selling an item that is worth more than $150 make sure, you sign it to show confirmation and also upload the tracking number after you ship it.
Never sell to someone with 0 feedback unless your willing to take the risk. It is always better to sell to someone with positive feedback so you don't lose your item and get scammed.
Keep the shipping receipt and any other details after you ship your item, in-case your buyer files a complaint saying you never shipped the item. If you are able to provide proof that you did, eBay will usually side with the seller.
Never sell gift cards on eBay, because sometimes the buyer will use it, but then claim that it didn't work and eBay will side with the buyer most of the time.
Record yourself packaging your item and dropping it off to your shipping carrier.
As long as you have proof of everything you do, chances of them winning a chargeback are very slim. With video proof, it would be very hard for the buyer to win the claim.
Below you can see some examples of a scam message
This is a perfect example of a scam message. In the message, they try to act very nice and get you to talk to them outside of eBay by giving you their number. You can also see that the address is not a valid one. It might show that the buyer has that many reviews, but every single one is old and they are all fake. Below you can see some of the reviews that the buyer has. They are all over 12 months old and most of them are the same people.
